Waterford Valley Golf Club & Resort is an 18-hole par 72 championship course measuring 6,961 yards, nestled in the picturesque Wiang Chai Hills, just 40 minutes from Chiang Rai city. Renowned for its refreshing climate and stunning northern Thai mountain views, this course offers a mostly flat layout atop a plateau, surrounded by lush valleys and natural scenery, making it one of the most scenic golf destinations in Thailand.

Designed in 1994 by Rathert International Golf Design, the course combines open parkland-style holes with several challenging, hilly sections requiring strategic club selection. While many holes feature wide fairways and straightforward play, three holes on each nine present significant elevation changes to test golfers’ skills.

Noteworthy holes include the 9th, a 390-yard par 4 dogleg left, where precise shot shaping is required to avoid water hazards and reach the raised, well-protected green. The 10th hole is a demanding 505-yard par 5 that requires a long, accurate tee shot over water to a narrow, bunker-guarded fairway. The finishing 18th hole offers a birdie opportunity with an uphill approach, set amidst gentle elevation changes.

After golf, players can relax at the outdoor clubhouse with views over Chiang Rai suburbs while enjoying basic Thai cuisine, including some mildly spicy northern specialties, and a selection of beverages. The resort also offers accommodation options, including a 20-room golf lodge and 30 dormitory-style rooms, popular with local groups and visiting Asian golfers. However, many golfers prefer to stay in Chiang Rai city for more diverse lodging options.
