Established in 1993, Thana City has a rich tournament heritage, having hosted major events such as the 1993 Thailand Open, the 1994 and 1995 Kosaido Thailand Ladies Open, the 1996 Johnnie Walker Super Tour final round won by Ernie Els, and the prestigious 2011 Thailand Open. Golf legends including Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Ian Woosnam, Laura Davies, and Thai star Thongchai Jaidee have graced this course.

The course underwent extensive renovations from 2012 to 2018, modernizing its facilities and improving playability. The layout combines flat fairways reminiscent of its rice paddy origins with diverse hole designs featuring native trees, colorful shrubs, natural streams, lakes, and sculpted sand traps that evoke seaside links golf. Accuracy off the tee is essential, with numerous fairway bunkers, narrowing fairways, and tricky approaches to greens, including four island greens on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 12th holes. The challenging finishing hole, a long par-4 over 440 yards, demands careful navigation around water hazards and bunkers, making bogey a solid score.
